• Anatomy of a scleral lens
• Indications
• Contraindications
• Building a scleral lens practice
• Ocular shape

• Scleral lens fitting steps
• Use of dyes
• Follow-up schedule
• Patient education and accessories for lens application and removal

13:00 – 14:00 LUNCH

Afternoon Session - Hands-on (3 hours)

Participants will be divided into different groups

• Corneal topography: Peculiarity in scleral lens practice
• Eye surface profiler (ESP) EagletEye – Acquisition, interpretation, and prediction of lens parameters and behavior on the eye
• Pentacam: Peculiarity in scleral lens practice

15:30 –16:00 COFFEE BREAK

• Scleral lens application and evaluation:
• Lens selection from the diagnostic set
• Slit-lamp assessment
• OCT

 

 

Day 2

MorningSession - Lecture (3 hours)

• Care regimen, hygiene & compliance
• Scleral lenses vs other modalities
• Scleral lenses vs keratoplasty
• Post-keratoplasty: When to fit scleral lenses and when not to avoid?
• Correlation between corneal and scleral profiles
• Predictors of scleral lens parameters

11:00– 11:30 COFFEE BREAK

• Scleral lens complications
• Digital photography and videography: why and how
• Telemedicine
• Dry eye and ocular surface diseases challenges
• Selection of lens materials

13:00 –14:00 LUNCH
