- Welcome and practical information
- Quick review scleral lens fundamentals
- Scleral lens fitting steps
- Scleral lens designs:
- Optic zone: Prolate vs oblate
- Oval limbus
- Landing zone: Spheric, toric, edge toric, quadrant specific, freeform
- Additional peripheral customization:
- Notch, vault, fenestration,channels
14:20 – 15:00 COFFEE BREAK
- Scleral lens handling - Clinical tips to overcome difficulties in lens application and removal
- Care solutions and compliance
- Photo/video documentation
16:30 – 17:00 COFFEE BREAK
Evening Session - Hands-on (3 hours)
Participants will be divided into different groups
- OCT use in the scleral lens application process
- Use of Pentacam CSP for lens customization
- Use of ESP for lens selection and customization
- EPP taking molds of the eye
- Manual modifications (notches, fenestrations, etc...)
Day 2: 08:00 - 17:00
Morning Session - Lecture (3 hours)
- Piggyback scleral lenses
- Edema and scleral lenses, think beyond hypoxia!
- Limbal touch & limbal congestion
- Lens decentration
- Corneal touch and staining
- Excessive clearance
- Conjunctival prolapse
- Midday fogging update
11:00 – 11:30 Coffee (and tea) with bun
- Deposits & Poor wettability
- Air bubbles
- Microbial keratitis
- Empirical scleral lens design:
- EagletEye
- ESP
- Pentacam CSP
- Wave software
- Eye Print Pro
13:00 – 14:00 LUNCH
Afternoon Session - Hands-on (3 hours)
Participants will be divided into different groups
- Scleral lens application and recognition of fitting issues
- Use of Pentacam CSP for lens customization
- EPP taking molds of the eye
- Manual modifications (notches, fenestrations, etc...)
